COVID-19 STATEMENT

IN THE SUPERIOR COURT OF EVANS COUNTY

STATE OF GEORGIA

NOTICE

Due to the continued transmission of Coronavirus/COVID-19, Governor Kemp has declared a State of Emergency in Georgia.  Subsequently, the Georgia Chief Supreme Court Justice has issued an order declaring a Judicial Emergency for all courts and clerk’s offices until April 13, 2020, unless otherwise extended, and the Chief Superior Court Judge of the Atlantic Judicial Circuit has issued an order declaring a Judicial Emergency for the Atlantic Judicial Circuit. Therefore, since state law requires that the Superior court remain open during stated hours, our office will be open regular business hours –  8 a.m. until 5 p.m Monday through Friday and will continue to assist the public.  However, due to the State of Emergency concerning COVID-19, and in order to protect the health and safety of employees and the public, the doors will remain closed. 

FOR ALL PARTIES/ENTITITES THAT NEED A COPY OF DEEDS OR PLATS, DEEDS AND PLATS FROM 1915 FORWARD ARE AVAILABLE FOR VIEW/PURCHASE ONLINE AT WWW.GSCCCA.ORG.

FOR REAL ESTATE/LIEN/UCC/PLAT FILINGS, YOU MAY UTILIZE OUR EFILING SYSTEM THROUGH WWW.GSCCCA.ORG.  IF NOT, YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO PLEASE MAIL ANY FILINGS INSTEAD OF PERSONALLY DELIVERING. EACH WILL BE PROCESSED AND RETURNED IN A TIMELY MANNER AS ALWAYS.

IN REGARDS TO OUR COURT OPERATIONS:

The Superior/State/Juvenile Courts of Evans County will:

  • Pursuant to OCGA 38-3-62 suspend, toll, extend and otherwise grant relief from any deadlines or other time schedules or filing requirements imposed by otherwise applicable statues, rules, regulations, or court orders, whether in civil or criminal cases, or administrative matters including, but not limited to, any statute of limitation; time within which to issue a warrant; the time within which to try a case for which a demand for speedy trial has been filed; the time within which to hold a commitment hearing; deadline or other schedule regarding the detention of a juvenile;  time within which to return a bill of indictment or an accusation or bring a matter before a grand jury; time within which to file a writ of habeas corpus; time within which discovery or any aspect thereof is to be completed; time within which to serve a party; time within which to appeal or to seek the right to appeal any order, ruling, or other determination; and such other legal proceedings as determined to be necessary by the authorized judicial official.
  • Reschedule all non-essential hearings until after April 13, 2020 unless otherwise extended; the court will send continuance notices once the order has been lifted
  • Receive and process Domestic Violence Petitions and schedule emergency hearings as coordinated with the Superior Court judges.
  • Accept and process new filings. AT THIS TIME THE EVANS COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE IS CONTINUING TO SERVE PAPERS, BUT THIS MAY CHANGE AND UPDATES WILL BE POSTED.

As previously stated, the Evans County Superior Court offices remain open during stated hours and will continue to assist the public.  Please bear with us as we strive to protect the health and safety of employees and the public.
